about

It's a fact: we've grown older. Balladur is no longer that wild pop eruption born from the French noise scene that struck everyone in the midst of the 2010s. No, the duo has wandered, played in every pit of the territory, traveled all the back roads in a Peugeot 205, for better or for worse.

Even though the two yobs still speak the language of beautiful songs and global influences, we've never heard from them a record as "doom" as the one arriving today.

The 9 tracks of “Pourquoi certains arbres sont si grands” are haunted by nostalgia for hopes, happy days, and a taste of uniquely nihilistic ashes. Is it this Italian passion from the '70s? Is it the staggering upfrontness of the lyrics? This obsessive taste for chiaroscuro? The omnipresence of demonic synths in the background?

What's curious is that Balladur emerged in 2013 as a "Cold Wave band." And now, 10 years later, after breaking free from all pre-packaged labels, they deliver their hardest, most haunted, and stunning record.
